Custom fields
Custom fields are key-value pairs attached to resources. They let you store the information that matters in your daily work directly on your resources, such as the owner of an asset, its business unit, its criticality or a ticket number.
A custom field has two parts:
- A definition, shared by everyone: a key and a type. Definitions are managed in Management > Custom fields. See Managing custom fields.
- A value, set on each resource. See Data enrichment.
Types
| Type | Value | Example use |
|---|---|---|
| Label | Free text. | Owner's name or team, ticket number. |
| Number | A number. | Cost center, number of users. |
| Date | A date. | Decommissioning date, last pentest date. |
| Dropdown | One of a list of predefined options. | Criticality, environment, business unit. |
| Boolean | Yes or no. | In scope for pentests, PCI scope. |
tip
Prefer dropdown fields over free text for values that should stay consistent, such as business units or environments.
